Participation in nature-conservation AEC operations in 2015
Analysing the participation data of agricultural holdings in nature-conservation operations for Special Meadow Habitats, Meadow Butterfly Habitats, Bird Habitats of Extensive Wet Meadows, and the Action for Birch Tree stands with Bracken Undergrowth (Rural Development Programme 2014–2020) in 2015 showed that 374 hectares of meadow areas participated in this segment of AEC action in the Ljubljana Marsh. The largest participation was in the Bird Habitats of Extensive Wet Meadows operation (232 hectares) and in the preservation work for Special Meadow Habitats (93 hectares), followed by the Meadow Butterfly Habitats operation (34 hectares) and the Action for Birch Tree stands with Bracken Undergrowth (15 hectares). These are participating agricultural meadow land areas in the AEC operation in the 1st subsidy campaign, which lasted from February until the end of May 2015. This participation, which we are very proud of, is the result of intensive collaboration between the Agricultural Consultancy Department at the Ljubljana Institute of the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia and the nature protectionists, all participating in the ‘People for the Marsh’ project. Subsequent participation in operations will also be made possible in 2016, as well as throughout the duration of the Rural Development Fund 2014–2020.
