Slovenian Park Day – cycling along the Okljuk Educational Path
On Sunday, 24th May 2015 – Slovenian Park Day, the Ljubljana Marsh Nature Park organised a guided cycle tour of the Okljuk Educational Path. We assembled in the narrow canyon of the Iška River, called the Iški Vintgar Canyon. With the help of our guides and information panels along the path, we learned about the natural and cultural features of the Ljubljana Marsh, as well as the mutual dependency between man and water which, despite technological progress, remains to this day. We also presented the “People for the Marsh” project, which highlights the important role played by agriculture in preserving biodiversity in the Ljubljana Marsh and the danger represented by invasive non-native species to nature and man. After 13 kilometres and 3 hours, we completed our trip across the plain of the Ljubljana Marsh, at the Kolišče snack bar in Lipe.
